Once upon a time, there lived a wolf. Her name was Wolfella. One day her mother decided it was time for her to adopt a son. Wolfella was SUPER excited for a new person to join her family, that is until she realized how bossy and mean her brother was. All day he sat on a bean bag and bossed Wolfella around. He sometimes said:
“Wolfella! Get me some ice cream, no chocolate!” or “Wolfella! Get me a root beer!”
Wolfella was tired of following his commands. But she did as he said.
One day her parents told Wolfella and her brother that they were going to New York to visit a sick relative, and that they would be gone for at least 10 months. Wolfella immediately was really nervous about there decision, after all it was HER BROTHER who was in charge!
As soon as Wolfella’s parents left, she heard the doorbell ring and, naturally, her brother saying:
“Wolfella! Go check the door, see who is there!”
“Of course!” Wolfella replied and went to do what her brother had said. To her shock, standing AT HER DOORSTEP was one of the MASTER Librarian’s messagers!
“Yes?” asked Wolfella, who was gaining curiosity.
“I was sent to invite your family to the National Book Day celebration at the library tomorrow. The Master Librarian will then make his son the new Master Librarian, and he will let his son choose the new Assistant Librarian from the people at the celebration.” then the messenger gave Wolfella an invitation to the party.
“Thank you!” Wolfella said, and the messenger left.
Wolfella told her brother what the messenger said. Wolfella’s brother immediately said:
“Wolfella! I need you to make me look like a librarian! NOW!”
“Okay,” Wolfella said quietly, and went to do what her brother had said.
The next day Wolfella was very busy making her brother look like a librarian. Whenever she thought she was done, her brother would think of something else he wanted to add. But then it was time!
Wolfella was reaching for a her best dress when her brother said:
“Nuh-uh, little sister. YOU are staying here and cleaning.” then he left- and took her dress with him!
Wolfella ran to her room, fell on her bed, and cried. She cried and cried and cried.
When she looked up, she saw a girl standing above her- no FLYING above her!
“Hello!” said the girl. “Why are you crying?”
“I’m not going to the celebration!” Wolfella sobbed.
“That’s what I’m here for! I’m your Fairy Librarian!” explained the fairy. “Now, get me your second best dress, one of your FAVORITE books, and glasses.
Wolfella ran to do what her Fairy Librarian had said. When Wolfella returned from getting the things her Fairy Librarian had told her to get, the fairy touched everything with her wand—starting with Wolfella’s dress. Then she gave her the dress and told her to put it on. Wolfella thought it was an entirely different dress! Then the fairy gave Wolfella her book, which had turned into a dictionary. Finally the fairy handed Wolfella her glasses, which had turned into pure crystal. Then Wolfella’s Fairy Librarian told Wolfella:
“Oh! Remember to be back by 10:00!”
When Wolfella got to the party, everyone gasped. Even her brother! Nobody could tell who she was!
Then the Master Librarian’s son came up to Wolfella and asked if she would be willing to be his partner for that evening.
“YES!” cried Wolfella, and the two of them were together the entire evening. Until 10:00.
When the clock chimed ten times Wolfella gasped.
“I HAVE to go!” she cried. “It was lovely meeting you!” and then she ran off.
But as she was running. She didn’t notice that her crystal glasses, which she had slipped into her pocket, fell onto the third step of the library.
When Wolfella got home, she slipped on her plain slippers, grabbed a bucket filled with water and a sponge, and started cleaning the house. When she was done, she fluffed up her brother’s favorite bean bag, got him a root beer, made him ice cream, and waited. Ten minutes later, her brother returned, sank into his bean bag, grabbed his snacks from Wolfella, and told her about the party and the mysterious girl.
“I KNEW as SOON as I saw her that she was GOING to be the Assistant Librarian!” he said. “But she left her glasses when she left at ten! The Master Librarian was SO desperate to find her that he is coming to EVERY house, and he also said whoever is the owner of the glasses will be his new assistant!”
The next day, around noon, there was a knock on the door
“Go to your room, Wolfella!” her brother said and opened the door.
“Hello,” the Master Librarian said. “I’m looking for the owner of these glasses.”
“Well, you’ve come to the right place!” Wolfella’s brother said, and the Master Librarian gave him the glasses to try on.
But Wolfella knew it would not be him, and she was right. Her brother did not have the book the Master Librarian knew so well.
“I’m so sorry, sir, but it looks like you are not the one I’m looking for,” the Master Librarian said. “is there anyone else in the house?”
“No,” Wolfella’s brother said. Just then, as Wolfella was going to her room, she stepped on a twig and it cracked.
“Who is there?” asked the Master Librarian.
“Oh, just my sister, but she didn’t go to the party last night,” Wolfella’s brother said.
“Well, I’m going to try anyway.” the Master Librarian said and asked Wolfella to come over.
“Ok,” Wolfella said and took the glasses and tried them on.
Suddenly, Wolfella’s Fairy Librarian appeared touched Wolfella lightly with her wand, and she was suddenly wearing the clothes she was wearing at the ball. She even had the book!
“You!” said the Master Librarian and Wolfella’s brother simultaneously, but Wolfella’s brother said it less happy and more angry. Then the Master Librarian asked Wolfella if she wanted to be his assistant.
“YES!” Wolfella yelled, and the Master Librarian took her to his snow-white Tesla. The two of them owned and worked inside the library. With her brother as a Helper, of course.
THE END
